The Butterfly Tree provides funds for workshops to educate rural communities about the facts and dangers concerning malaria disease, the importance of prevention, how to use mosquito nets and the urgency to be tested if symptoms appear. Community health workers play a vital roll in preventing serious cases of malaria. Early testing is essential. Therefore when a community is 20 miles from the nearest clinic the people can be tested and treated by a community health worker. The tests are then taken to a laboratory for further testing.
