People all over the globe come together to mark this significant day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #e86710;\">In 2015, there were <b>214 million cases<\/b>, and <b>438 000 deaths <\/b>from Malaria<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #e86710;\"><b>3.2 billion<\/b>\u00a0(half the world&#8217;s population) are at risk<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #e86710;\">In 2015, <b>97 countries<\/b> had on-going malaria transmission<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #e86710;\">The global malaria mortality rate was <b>reduced by 60% <\/b>in 2000 &#8211; 15, and an estimated <b>6.2 million lives <\/b>were <b>saved <\/b>as a result of a scale-up of malaria interventions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_11545\" style=\"width: 485px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1040328.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11545\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11545 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1040328-475x356.jpg\" alt=\"P1040328\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Young children need protection from malaria<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We are\u00a0the first charity is the world to use <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/malaria\/malaria-prevention-products\/\">Vectorcide\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> safe insecticidal coating and <strong>Larvicide<\/strong>\u00a0granules to help eradicate malaria in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/about\/where-we-work\/\">Zambia<\/a>. Both these products are highly effective, with no new cases of malaria being reported in areas of application. The products are harmless to humans, animals and the environment.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11316\" style=\"width: 485px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1040844.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11316\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11316 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1040844-475x356.jpg\" alt=\"P1040844\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11316\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vectorcide coating is harmless to humans and animals<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To mark this day The Butterfly Tree is hosting an event, to showcase our work in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/health\/malaria\/\">malaria prevention<\/a>, <\/strong>at Kamwi Village in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/about\/where-we-work\/mukuni-village\/\">Mukuni<\/a> Chiefdom.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Members of the Ministry of Health and local communities will be in attendance. Two of our team Mrs Maseka,\u00a0a government\u00a0Environmental Officer and Stain Musungaila will be the presenters. Stain has lost five family members to this devastating disease.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11547\" style=\"width: 485px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050662.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11547\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-11547 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050662-475x356.jpg\" alt=\"P1050662\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11547\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Children in Kamwi are at risk\u00a0of malaria<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For the past eight years\u00a0we have donated a vast number of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/malaria\/mosquito-nets\/\">mosquito nets<\/a> in the Mukuni, Sekute and Nyawa Chiefdoms adding extra\u00a0protection.
