However,\u00a0I did manage to see a considerable number of them. Nine <strong>volunteers<\/strong> from Jersey helped local builders to construct two 1&#215;3 classroom blocks and latrines. A group of pupils from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arnewood.hants.sch.uk\/\">Arnewood School<\/a> raised funds for this project, and volunteered in August to help\u00a0with the construction. Previously pupils from Mayala had to draw water from a river several kilometres from their school. River View and Mayala were generously funded by a US donor &#8211;\u00a0a donation from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotarysunrise.ky\">Cayman Islands Rotary Club<\/a> helped towards the bore hole\u00a0for River View. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.innerwheel-district6.co.uk\/home\/district-6-clubs\/solihull-club-information\/\">Solihull Inner Wheel Club<\/a> funded\u00a0ones at Kazungula and Nguba as well the installation of electricity\u00a0form Mambova Clinic.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12149\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12149\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-12149 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"p1060100\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1060100-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">1,150\u00a0PUPILS AND TEACHERS AT RIVER VIEW SCHOOL NOW HAVE ACCESS TO SAFE CLEAN WATER<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After six months without rain I came across a\u00a0great deal of hunger. It saddens me to see children who are receiving only one meal a day, and often that consists of only\u00a0vegetables. Bags of maize were donated to needy families. We provide schools with seeds and fertiliser to create sustainable feeding programmes, encouraging the use of millet, which is not as rain dependent as maize.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12153\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12153\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-12153 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"p1050783\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050783-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12153\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GARDENS TO GENERATE SUSTAINABLE FEEDING PROGRAMMES ARE ESSENTIAL IN RURAL SCHOOLS<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The communities are desperate for rain and have started preparing the land for planting. This\u00a0season is also the time to get <strong>malaria prevention<\/strong> methods in place. After last year&#8217;s success with our new <strong>malaria prevention<\/strong> initiative we provided further protection in the Mukuni Chiefdom by distributing 330 mosquito nets in areas of high malaria prevalence.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12150\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12150\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-12150 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"p1050916\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1050916-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12150\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MOSQUITO NETS DISTRIBUTED IN THE REMOTE VILLAGE OF CHUUNGA<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We will again\u00a0be applying the new products in other areas where high numbers of malaria were recorded this year.<\/p>\n<p>Many widows and the elderly are living in appalling conditions, struggling to feed and educate<strong>\u00a0orphans<\/strong>. My niece, Katie, came\u00a0along to volunteer &#8211; having an extra pair of\u00a0hands was very useful!
