Since our involvment at River View School\u00a0the number of pupils has increased from 800 pupils to 1,500. It was wonderful to catch up with students attending university and college, and those that have recently completed skilled-based courses. Since applying the safe\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/malaria\/malaria-prevention-products\/\">insecticidal coating<\/a> and larviciding intervention, the environmental officer at Nyawa Health Centre, has recorded NO malaria cases since April 2018. We stopped to see the delapidated health post in Bunsanga, which is to be replaced this year.\u00a0In addition to Nyawa we have now applied protection against malaria for the entire Chiefdom of Moomba.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13419\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13419\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-13419 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090084-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13419\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">OLD HEALTH POST &#8211; BUNSANGA, NYAWA CHIEFDOM<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Moving in to Musokotwane Chiefdom we visited Ngewi Heatlh Centre, where high numbers of malaria cases were recorded last year. The larvicide has been placed in ponds and streams &#8211; our aim is to seek funding to provide full protection for this area, which has a population in excess of 11,000.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotary-ribi.org\/clubs\/homepage.php?ClubID=380\">Leamington Spa Rotary Club<\/a> member, Rosemary Good, joined me one day &#8211; her club donated funds towards our &#8216;mosquito nets for schools&#8217; project, 190 nets were given to Mambova School.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13421\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13421\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-13421 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/P1090409-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13421\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ROSEMARY AND JANE VISITING MAMBOVA SCHOOL, SEKUTE CHIEFDOM<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Once these constructions have been completed they will be handed over to the Ministries of Health and Education and communities. The government provides qualified teachers and medical staff, and the local people are trained as community health workers, and form a PTA committee at the schools. The privately-owned pre-school at Nakawa is run by volunteer teachers.
