So how about giving something\u00a0that will benefit\u00a0someone who has nothing!<\/p>\n<p>The children of <a title=\"Mukuni\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/mukuni\/\">Mukuni<\/a> don&#8217;t receive\u00a0Christmas presents, they don&#8217;t know about Father Christmas or the celebrations of the festive season. Apart from the joy of going to church on Christmas morning the rest of the day will just be as\u00a0any other day at <a title=\"Mukuni Village\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/mukuni\/\">Mukuni Village<\/a>. No stocking fillers nor treats just a plate of nsima (ground maize), vegetables and groundnuts and for the\u00a0few\u00a0lucky ones the addition of chicken or kapenta (dried fish) swilled down with water. Coke, Fanta and Lemonade are a luxury very few can afford and despite the constant heat ice-cream is unheard of.<\/p>\n<p>Alternative Christmas presents could\u00a0really help\u00a0a child or community\u00a0in need and give more satisfaction to the donor than the risk of purchasing an unwanted gift. All things that we in the west take for granted. For the past\u00a0seven months the rural clinics have received no government funding. Yesterday I was told that there is an outbreak\u00a0 in the district and no money available to buy the\u00a0neccessary insecticides. <a title=\"The Butterfly Tree\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/about\/\">The Butterfly Tree<\/a> will help to\u00a0eradicate this issue, at least for\u00a0Mukuni Village, in the forthcoming week.
