The three schools that we are currently building in the villages of Matengu and\u00a0Silelo in the Musokatwane Chiefdom and Malima in the Mukuni Chiefdom should be completed by the end of October. A teachers&#8217; house at <a title=\"Mukuni \" href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/about\/where-we-work\/mukuni\/\">Mukuni<\/a> is also under construction as well as five community houses for widows and orphans. We have a number of volunteers who are helping to improve the Maths and English standards at Mukuni Basic School, others are assisting with the <a title=\"HIV and AIDS prevention\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/our-work\/health\/hiv-aids-prevention\/\">HIV and AIDS prevention<\/a> projects and teaching business skills to groups of women. We are very grateful to all of them for giving up their time to volunteer for The Butterfly Tree.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 485px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Education for Zambia\" alt=\"Education for Zambia\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/6146153203_61a916ece0-475x356.jpg\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Education for Zambia &#8211; New school for pupils at Matengu to open shortly<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In addition to our on going\u00a0sponsors the <a title=\"Barrington Bei\" href=\"http:\/\/barrington-bei.org\/index.html\">Barrington Educational Initiative<\/a>, a Swiss based private charitable endeavour,\u00a0has offered\u00a0to support our work. We have also\u00a0recently partnered with\u00a0and <a title=\"Travelers Gift Vacations\" href=\"http:\/\/travelersgiftvacations.com\/about-us\/\">Travelers Gift Vacations<\/a>, a tour operator that provides luxury and purpose travel.\u00a0A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/get-involved\/philanthropic-travel\/\">philanthropic\u00a0traveler<\/a>\u00a0has a\u00a0chance to get involved with charitable work in one of the developing countries they are visiting. The longer I work with the charity the more I realise\u00a0there is a\u00a0great need for collaboration amongst small charities operating in Zambia.\u00a0If we endeavour to work with other organisations\u00a0together we\u00a0can\u00a0make a bigger impact, create transparency and help to\u00a0alleviate corruption. One of our new partners is <a title=\"Global Partners for Health\" href=\"http:\/\/spreadhealth.org\/about.html\">Global Partners for Health<\/a>, a US based charity also working in Zambia, who aim to provide vital medical supplies\u00a0for our clinics.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 485px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Women from Kamwi Village gives birth to seventh child\" alt=\"Women from Kamwi Village gives birth to seventh child\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/6146184565_eb63192d6f-475x356.jpg\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Health education &#8211; young women from Kamwi Village gives birth to seventh child<\/p><\/div>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i>Tomorrow our own cycling team, The Flying Butts, will be competing in a cycle challenge at Brands Hatch. The <a title=\"Cyclothon UK\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vultd.co.uk\/cyclothon\/charities.php\">CyclothonUK<\/a>\u00a0event has some thirty teams involved in the challenge to raise funds for charities.\u00a0One of our volunteers, Oscar Miyanda of <a title=\"Basement Entertainment\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Basement-Entertainment\/120271864664988\">Basement Entertainment<\/a>, is providing the music to spur the teams on. So far we have raised almost \u00a32000 all of which will go towards our orphan programmes in Zambia. We wish Mike Kaye, Nigel Birch, Jake Wilson-Gunn and James Blackburn every success and thank them for giving up their valuable time to take part.
