Having previously been involved in the\u00a0travel industry, since travelled extensively around the globe and now working in one of the poorest countries in the world, I have observed a great deal. Now that experience can be put to use\u00a0at the\u00a0seminar hosted by The Butterfly Tree<\/a> at the Europe 2008\u00a0Travel Distribution Summit\u00a0being staged at\u00a0the London Design Centre to\u00a0encourage tour operators, hoteliers and tourists\u00a0to be more\u00a0aware of the needs of the communities they are operating in.<\/p>\n

For the past two years we have partnered with Exquisite Safaris\u00a0who have agreed to donate \u00a3125 for every one of their\u00a0tourists who visit our projects at Mukuni Village<\/a>. This also gives the traveller an opportunity to ‘get involved’<\/a> or give something back.<\/p>\n

I am delighted that three other like-minded organizations have agreed to join me at this event. Tourism Concern<\/a>, is the only UK organisation campaigning on exploitation in the global tourism industry; Charity Challenge<\/a>,\u00a0gaining an award for\u00a0Best Tour Operator for Poverty Reduction at the World Travel Market and Everyclick<\/a>, the search engine that gives 50% of its revenue to charity every month.<\/p>\n
