Some attendees where surprised to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/2008\/travel-distribution-summit-2\/\">The Butterfly Tree<\/a> exhibiting and many congratulated Eye for Travel for\u00a0including us.\u00a0Fellow exhibitors showed a keen interest offering a link to our website, some gave donations of software and money and several offered to promote the charity.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar, which I hosted, was aimed\u00a0at\u00a0getting more companies\u00a0involved in <a title=\"Philanthropic Travel\" href=\"\/pages\/about\/philanthropic-travel\/\" target=\"_self\">Philanthropic Travel<\/a> and responsible tourism initiatives.\u00a0Too many do not have any kind of corporate social responsibility programs and Gyonne James from <a title=\"Tourism Concern\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tourismconcern.org.uk\/\">Tourism Concern<\/a> discussed this issue along with exploitation in the tourist industry. Victoria Bolton of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitychallenge.co.uk\/cc\/charitychallenge\/index.jsp\">Charity Challenge<\/a> told the audience how their company helps to reduce world poverty through fundraising expeditions while Mark Nall, Chief Executive of <a title=\"Everyclick\" href=\"http:\/\/charities.everyclick.com\/about-everyclick\">Everyclick<\/a> explained how\u00a0businesses and individuals\u00a0can generate money for charities by using their search engine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"imageframe imgalignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/2528309301_a040d61277.jpg\" alt=\"European Travel Summit\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The travel industry has a huge capacity to raise funds for NGO&#8217;s and charities especially through the internet.\u00a0Tour operators need to make their\u00a0tourists aware of the poverty surrounding their luxury resorts,\u00a0in the developing countries they are visiting. Hoteliers must provide clean water, health and education for local communiteis as well as becoming &#8216;eco&#8217; friendly.
