{"id":71,"date":"2008-06-14T07:17:53","date_gmt":"2008-06-14T07:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/2008\/donations-from-victoria-falls\/"},"modified":"2012-08-16T11:33:57","modified_gmt":"2012-08-16T11:33:57","slug":"donations-from-victoria-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/2008\/donations-from-victoria-falls\/","title":{"rendered":"Victoria Falls Donations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During my\u00a0talks at various travel exhibitions I always state that if tourists were made more aware, by their tour operators,\u00a0of the poverty surrounding their luxury resorts,\u00a0then they would be more inclined to give a donation.<\/p>\n<p>One tour company, Exquisite Safaris and one of our partners\u00a0insists\u00a0on\u00a0sending their clients to visit a humantarian project as an essentail part of their itinerary.\u00a0<a title=\"Exquisite Safaris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exquisitesafaris.com\/index.php\/journal\/more\/philanthropic_travel_zambia\/\">Exquisite Safaris<\/a> is the pioneer in <a title=\"luxury Philanthropic Travel\" href=\"\/pages\/2007\/philanthropic-travel\/\" target=\"_self\">luxury Philanthropic Travel<\/a> and\u00a0donates $US250 for every\u00a0client who visits an NGO project and The Butterfly Tree is fortunate to be operating in a catchment area, being so close to the <a title=\"Victoria Falls\" href=\"\/pages\/2007\/victoria-falls\/\" target=\"_self\">Victoria Falls<\/a>, where tourists can make daily visits\u00a0to <a title=\"Mukuni Village\" href=\"\/pages\/mukuni-village\/\" target=\"_self\">Mukuni Village<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"imageframe imgaligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebutterflytree.org.uk\/pages\/wp-content\/images\/2576643697_26d1bca716.jpg\" alt=\"Victoria Falls\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year we have received many offers of\u00a0visitors wishing to\u00a0<a title=\"Sponsor an orphan\" href=\"\/pages\/our-work\/education\/sponsor-an-orphan\/\" target=\"_self\">sponsor an orphan<\/a> or give a donation\u00a0to\u00a0this rural community\u00a0and just as I was so touched on my first visit to Victoria Falls, others have felt the same. I am delighted to say that several of these people have come &#8216;on board&#8217; to raise further funds and awareness for The Butterfly Tree.<\/p>\n<p>Zambia is experiencing a &#8216;boom&#8217; in tourism and as\u00a0an <a title=\"NGO In Zambia\" href=\"\/about\/ngo-in-zambia\" target=\"_self\">NGO in Zambia<\/a> I am dedicated to getting more tour operators, lodges, hotels and tourists\u00a0involved in &#8216;giving something back&#8217;.
