I am deeply saddened to announce the loss of my biggest fan and finest supporter. Lawrence Bailey, my husband, tragically died yesterday in a horrific accident and will be missed by everyone who knew him, most especially his family. As moved as I was after our first visit to Mukuni Village in March 2006, Lawrence helped me set up The Butterfly Tree and has continually sought funds and encouraged me in every way to find new ways to improve the lives of people less fortunate than we are. Lawrence came with me on my latest trip to Zambia, helped with the long drives through the bush and offered support wherever needed. His favourite place to visit was The Butterfly Tree pre-school and watching the feeding program at Mukuni Basic School supported by his own company, Cunninghams. He will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit and compassion and for his excellence in management.

With thanks to all our charity sponsors -
Dear Jane,
Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
Dear Jane,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am from the UK and was just surfing the web looking for charities in the Victoria falls area. I have friends who live in Victoria falls town in Zim and was considering visiting again when I finish my phd here and possibly volunteering for a charity (I am writing my thesis).
Anyway, I came across your charity and your post and felt moved to express my sincere condolences for your loss, and to wish you well with your work in Zambia.
Best wishes,
Jenny Mason

Hi Jane,
although we only met him once, it was evident that Lawrence was a kind and compassionate man and loved you and his family very much.
We will never forget the meal that he blessed us with that Sunday afternoon and I will never forget the way he lifted you up with his words whilst you were in the bathroom. You were right in saying he was your biggest fan because we’ve truly never heard a man speak of his wife in the way that he did you. He spoke so proudly of you.
You are in our thoughts and prayers,
love
Leonnie and Ebonie

I would just like to ad my families condolances to all these others and wish you the strength you need in this difficult time. James

So Long For Now.
When someone special passes on
It does not mean they are gone,
Though they are no longer with us
Their memory still lives on.
It hurts so much to lose a friend -
Especially one that is trustworthy and kind.
Lawrence, you were that special friend,Father,Husband
A rare and special find.
Lawrence, you will always be with us
In spirit and in mind.
You will always have a special place in our hearts
Forever until the end of time.
Lawrence, We will not say “Good-bye”.
This is not the end.
So we will just say, “So long…”
Until we meet again.
May you soul rest in internal peace.

Dear Jane & family
Words cannot express how much we will all miss Lawrence. He was always there to give advice & support when we needed it. He was never to busy to spare his time to chat to us & would always ask about our families. Lawrence was always fair, thoughtful, kind & very generous, one of the best bosses one could ever want. He also had a unique sense of humour, which we all loved.
Lawrence will always be in our thoughts & when we feel we are in need of some advice, we will think to ourselves “I wonder what advice Lawrence would have given me”
I know Lawrence will always be with us all in spirit.
Our thoughs are with you & all the family at this sad time.
Love Wendy, Gill, Pauline, Tash, Natalie & katie x x x x x x
Jane, Polly and The Bailey Family. I did not know what to write about Lawrence, because words can not explain the loss we all feel. A true friend for 26 years, I will remember him forever.
Jane,
We worked for Lawrence back in 1987 through to when the buisness moved to your current offices. We were a fledgling buisness and Lawrence was our first ‘big job’, he was a real character, and always paid on time, full of sound advice which helped us on our way,a true gentleman, we have only just discovered your charity which is a pleasant surprise, and true to Lawrence’s philanthropic nature.
A truly great bloke, Our thoughts are wit you and your family. David and Neil Hewlett
