As it is not possible to fund feeding programs for each of the schools we support, every year we provide seeds for the rural schools to grow maize and vegetables. This enables them to dry the maize and store it for the winter months when there is no rain to grow crops. Many of these children have to walk long distances to school, often there is no breakfast as many families survive on one meal a day due to the lack of employment and high poverty levels. A school meal helps to improve the attendance and performance of the pupils.
