The most important aspect in developing a school or community is to ensure that safe, clean drinking water is readily available. Without this no real progress can be made. The Butterfly Tree has funded boreholes for the following schools: Mukuni, Ngandu, Kamwi, Libala, Katapazi, Siamasimbi, Malima, Sibbulo, Chuunga, Muchimbale, Kauwe, Nampuyani, Bunsunga and Sinsimuku, Mayala, Muyundu, Zalu, Mayoba, Nakawa,  and for these communities: Chise, Kafekwa, Mukuni (2), Mahalululu and Mukalahani For 2016 four bore holes have been installed at River View, Kazungula Boarding, Nguba and Mayala Schools and
